Family Time

This past week Cathey and I have been enjoying the company of our daughter and her children and our son Jason who is an RN in Sacramento. It has been a year and a half since we have seen Jason because of Covid. He is home for two weeks to help with the remodeling of his house and catch up on some fishing.

We started our week fishing Smith Lake which is still well above full pool. Super clear water and lush greenery were a welcome sight.
Jenny and Bryson fishing with crickets on Smith this past Wednesday; both landed some really nice bull bluegills fishing with  7 1/2 ft. ultra-light rods and reels.
Laelyn and Cash got in on the action Thursday fishing for catfish on Park Pond. Neither Cash or Laelyn would touch the catfish so Pops did the honors. They did a great job playing and landing both fish!! Bryson hit a milestone landing his first fish using his Redington 7 1/2 ft. 2 wt. Congrats Bryson, Laelyn, and Cash on a great outing fishing with Pops and Jason.

Great to see your grandchildren enjoy the outdoors, Bill. When they're all grown up, they'll look back on these times with much fondness!

Bill whenever you can get the entire family onboard with one thing that's an accomplishment. And you did it with fishing. Great family time.

Sure is nice when the family gets together again like this and shares good times on the water!

First, pass along to Jason how much we in the Sacramento area appreciate the sacrifice he's given to help those in need. We can't say too much about those hero's. Second, all kids have to get jabbed by the catfish fin at least once in their life so they can really appreciate Pop's taking the fish off. Personally I got my jab from a little catfish about 6 inches long and have never touched one since.

He and his coworkers are glad there is some light at the end of the tunnel for this dreaded disease. He needed this long break from a very stressful year. He told us that the country will always be faced with some type of virus, let's just hope that it is not as deadly as Covid.
I've got work on getting the kids to release and touch the catfish. I to can remember the fin of the catfish when I was their age. Thanks for the comment
