I finally worked a trip in today to the Caney
Fork between all the generations at the tailrace. The schedule on the website
showed no generation from 8 AM to 1 PM. Surprise, surprise generators turned on
at 11:30 disappointing a lot of
fishermen. Lots of trout could be seen at every logical place I fished,
telling me the tailrace had recently been stocked.
This stocker brown trout was one of many I brought to the
net in the 2 hours I had to fish before high fast-moving water caused me to
leave. When the horn sounds at this place indicating generation, you need to
leave the water. Don’t wait to make that last cast. The midge was the hot fly
the trout were taking during the short stay. I don’t like to fish tiny flies,
but the size 20 and 22 got their attention.
Bill that's a super treehouse! I am so glad that I don't have to worry about generation. I don't think I'd fare very well when that siren screams or horn honks or whatever it does. I'm looking forward to more adventures on the Caney...thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking "Pops" is going to be a popular guy for awhile as long as that tree house is in the works. Hope they enjoy all the fun.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that you helped out another fly fisherman find the joy of Bluegill fishing on a light rod..........
Bill great finish to that tree house. Being a hunter I'd love it as a very comfortable tree stand.
ReplyDeleteNice to see a brown in your hand, a change for sure from the rainbows of the Sipsey.
Amazing how the older you get the harder it is to get up the ladder. If I spend too much time on one, I tend to have numerous leg cramps. Good job on the tree house.

ReplyDeleteThe one downer about fishing tailraces is the generators. Thanks for the comment

ReplyDeleteThe grandchildren played in it yesterday afternoon, a lot of fun for the kids and pops too. Thanks for the comment

ReplyDeleteMy time on the tree house ladder is limited, now that it is built, it was a killer going up and down that thing to complete floors and rail. Good thing I had Cathey down on the ground to hand me tools and boards. Thanks for the comment

ReplyDeleteWe see deer and turkey from atop the tree house in the field behind us, usually in the mornings and afternoons. They seem to know where they are safe.
I was glad I got to handle some brown trout for a change, and would have brought more to hand if the generation had stayed on schedule. Thanks for the comment

ReplyDeleteFunny you mention food and drink, I built shelves around the top with a back stop board to keep things from falling onto the ground-----They've had food and drinks up there. Thanks for the comment
Bill, Great post and very nice treehouse. any time you can affect another fisherman in a positive way, you're doing something worthwhile.

ReplyDeleteYou know I'm kind of worried about this generation when it comes to fly fishing; I seldom see young kids fly fishing. I'm glad Tate showed an interest in fly fishing that day. Thanks for the comment
From treehouse to trout with enjoyment for the young at heart-- a wonderful mix, Bill. Thanks for the good work.
ReplyDeleteThe treehouse and trout quite a combination---thanks for the comment
