November Fly Swap

I thought I would share my latest fly swap with you guys from Nick at Brookfield Angler. I received these three nicely tied Sculpins flies in the mail yesterday for my swap. The spots on Smith Lake and the big rainbow on the tailrace should really attack this pattern. Nick did a nice job tying the Sculpin.

My post last month titled Become a Blogger Fly Swap Fiend explains my reasoning behind swapping flies. These are the flies I have up for swap this month.

Upper left is a size 18 Dry Coachman--right top is size 14 Mayfly---Middle is a size 20 Beadhead Brown Midge--Lower left is a size 14 Brown Drake--Lower right is a size 20 Grey Scud

  1. Bill, send me you address I'll send you some. I tied up some Frenchie's and I wonder if they'll work in your area. Do you live near trout water or is it mainly warm water stuff?

Sounds good--email me your address and I will mail Nov. swap flies to you. I have the best of both worlds, a trout tailrace to fish below Smith Dam and of course Smith Lake for warm water fishing. Thanks Bill

  4. Nice flies Bill. I see you have a preference for the dry fly.

  5. I do like that sculpin pattern. Looks like it could land a few smallmouth bass. I am more than happy to send some unfinished balsa body poppers your way.

Nothing like watching a trout smack a dry fly. Thanks for the comment

I can't wait to try the sculpin out on the spots at Smith in the spring. Thanks for the offer on the poppers, but I am overloaded at this time with poppers. Thanks for the comment

  9. Bill, I do like this idea of yours. As soon as I get into fly tying mode, I'll come up with something for you.

I don't tie my own flies, I wish I had the patience, and time, but as for now I still purchase the flies I fish with. Thanks for the comment
