You have a tippet on the end of your leade...Anthony<br />You have a tippet on the end of your leaders; it is the tail end section of your leader--in other words the thin part of the leader. After tying on fly after fly you use up the majority of the end of the leader which is really the tippet end. In order to keep using your leader, you can use the tippet ring tied into the end of the leader and then tie 3 or 4 ft. of tippet line to your leader and keep using the same leader time after time. It really saves on buying leaders all time. You can buy a spool of tippet for a fourth of the price of the leader, and the tippet spool will last much longer. I hope I didn't confuse you with the long explanation. I don'...Ok, so here's my problem, I think... I don't use tippet! I use 10 lb. mono, that I straighten every once in a while. Maybe my casting suffers, but I'm so new to it, I don't think I notice. What is the benefit of tippet over regular lb. test leader?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09131406042962663283noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8518971929369280752.post-41132876302896283872012-04-26T23:13:53.820-04:002012-04-26T23:13:53.820-04:00this is turning into a 3 part series, ill be back ...this is turning into a 3 part series, ill be back for the conclusionBlakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13885282337683484850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8518971929369280752.post-79248660747260743032012-04-26T19:32:17.557-04:002012-04-26T19:32:17.557-04:00Mark

From what Dave at "Fishndave blog" told me these little rings are the ticket for saving on leaders. They are extremely tiny and can be fished as I stated in the post with dries and midges. The Swivel you have mentioned is similar to the L-connect leader from Scientific Angler--I used some of those and they pulled open on bigger fish. I will take a look at the Swivel.
