A First!!

Trout was released yesterday in Walker County Lake located a few miles from Jasper. This is the same lake I fish numerous times in the early spring. Late this afternoon was a first for me landing a number of rainbow using a tungston beadhead copper john tightlining.
A fun 30 minutes using my 2 wt. which I carry in my truck for a quickie!!

A great fly Bill. Worked well on the Lower Owens. Much fun on 2wt.

Bill, nice going on your success in lake fishing for trout.
Nymphs and wet flies are deadly in lake fishing, and in certain situations a dry fly can be spectacular.

Well done Bill

The 2wt was perfect for the open water I was fishing, not hang-ups--thanks for the comment

Been a while since I'd made a cast with the fly rod, good to get back on the water---thanks for the comment

Tried a number of flies in the fly box before I hit on a winner, the Copper John got their attention. Thanks for the comment

I don't fish lakes for trout very often but I do make a point of fishing the "Hex" hatch each year. I don't know if you have this huge mayfly where you are but fishing its hatch is spectacular. Dry fly fishing for the biggest trout in the water.

I haven't seen a Hex hatch on Walker Lake, although I don't fish the lake in the winter months. The lake will be closed in a couple of weeks and will not be opened again until the middle of February. I may see a hatch at it opens then. Thanks for the comment

Bill, No doubt about it, at this time of year, your region of the country beats the Northlands when it comes to fishing the lakes and tailwaters. The catching has to be more comfortable. Anyway, nice work, and thanks!
