Shirts, Pants, Hats, Shoes the Works to go Sun Free

As I get older I have become more aware of the damage the sun can have on your skin. When I was younger I would fish all day wearing a short-sleeve shirt, shorts, flip flops, and a cap. The sun would blister me the first couple of outings but after that my skin was so brown I hardly ever got a sunburn the rest of the season. I was lucky I didn’t contract Melanoma in those early years. Nowadays I battle the sun's rays by wearing a long sleeve shirt, long pants, vented hat, vented shoes, and finger exposed sun gloves. All these products are listed below, with links to the website.

I wear all these products when I am on the water. I am a sticker for a good hat and this hat has to be my favorite of all I wear.

  1. Bill age and sun don't mix.
I learned first hand the damage it can cause.
    Cover up and protect.

  2. Thanks Bill. After a bout of skin cancer on my nose several years ago I still don't cover up quite like I should.

Amazing why there isn't more coverage concerning the effect of the sun on the skin. Thanks for the comment

I wear sun screen on my face if I am not wearing my wide brim hat. Thanks for the comment

  5. Could not agree more with you. I do whatever I can to keep my skin covered...even going ninja buff mode. Just about everyone in my family has passed from some type of cancer. I consider myself high risk. I take every precaution I can. I have tubes of sunscreen in every corner of my truck, camping gear, backpack, wading pack, kayak...everywhere!

  6. Glad to see you're getting out and enjoying the waters, fish and bugs and all, and also caring for the skin exposed to the sun. I'm doing the same because getting old isn't all it's cracked up to be. Anyway, it's always good to see what you're willing to share with us.

It's good to cover your skin with long sleeves shirts, long pants hats and gloves but one needs to be comfortable when wearing clothes that cover the skin. Todays clothing offers that comfort-----Thanks for the comment

  9. I hate wearing pants. I have just recently in the past year or so started wearing buffs to protect my face. I still wear short sleeve shirts, shorts and sandals whenever I can. I guess everyone's skin is different. I rarely sun burn. Must be that Filipino blood in me from my mom. I have her skin.

There are tons of UV protection options out there now. Even lightweight hoodies. I have friends who wear these often, and they seem to enjoy them.

I couldn't agree more, I wear with the shorts when the humidity levels get high in the summer month, and of course the sun screen. Thanks for the comment
