Numerous Trout Landed on Friday’s Trip

I was on the tailrace Friday and was having one of my better days, where I brought 6 to hand and lost that many in a couple of hours. I was taking pictures of all the trout I landed and the surroundings, when I noticed, after numerous shots I got this message saying no memory card. I am sure the message was popping up on every image I took, but I was so caught up in the moment of landing trout, until I didn’t noticed the message until I shot my last image. Upon arriving home I discovered the card was still in my computer, where I had downloaded some images earlier in the day----talk about a bomber.

This incident reminded me of the half hearted trip I made last year when I arrived at the tailrace with the intentions of fishing the lower section the tailrace, only to discover I had left my fly rod at home. I left as fast as I arrived and didn’t return for the day. I felt I needed the punishment of missing this trip, because again of not being organized. I like to think I am a fairly organize fisherman, when it comes to getting things together for a fishing trip, but Fridays ordeal reminded me I still have some work to do in that department.

Sorry I don’t have any images of the trip, but I promise to make amends on my next outing. I know none of you guys have ever done anything like this.

  1. God have I been there. I don't make any claim to being organized though. At least you caught fish!

  2. Bill, I once drove halfway to the Caney Fork before I realized I was missing waders and boots. There was nothing to do but turn around and head back home to grab the stuff and then try again. I've also turned around for cameras but only when I'm still within 2-3 miles. After that I figure that maybe not having a camera will be good luck. If you want to have an amazing day on the water landing a ton of fish and maybe some big ones, leave the camera at home...

  3. I seem to do that more and more as I get older. I think it's a symptom of having kids too. I'll do exactly what you did. Download the pictures on my computer from some event then leave the card there. My computer has a slot for memory cards so it makes it easy to forget about them.

  4. I've gotten to the fishing spot and realized I left my fishing rod at home...at least once. Camera's have been left behind many times.

I usually have all my gear in my vehicle at all times...but sometimes my wife and I switch cars for the day, or sometimes I have to take all my fishing gear out for one reason or another...and then forget that it isn't in the car anymore.
It happens. Just think of all the times you went fishing and had EVERYTHING YOU NEEDED! :)

  5. Of course we have. Drove all the way out to New Melones (an hour and a half) and forgot my Geezer Pass and had to pay the daily fee. The daily fee is the same amount as the Geezer Pass, only the pass is forever.

  8. Bill, I have seen the words "Old" and "Geezer" used here to describe things like this. I don't know about you, but, that is a perfect description of me.

Yup, cameras, reels, waders, fishing license, and assorted other things have blackmailed my fishing trips over time.

Treasure the memories of those nice fish you caught my friend.

  19. At our age that's always a possibility. A shame it had to happen on such a good day.
